1. It is thought that the physician, Luke, who was a companion of Paul , wrote the book .
It is addressed to Theophilus, and was written to strengthen the faith of all believers.
(1) longest book in the New Testament. (2) the only Gospel in chronological order, telling of the works and teaching of Jesus Christ from His birth to His ascension.

1. The book of Luke is believed to have been written by a physician named Luke. It was written to Theophilus, and was aimed at his, Theophilus’, instruction as well as to strengthen the faith of all believers and to provide a counter argument to unbelievers. To me, personally, the two most important characteristics of the book are that it is the only gospel written in chronological order, which provides an orderly and methodical account of Jesus’ life and the care Luke took in assuring his readers that he himself had personally verified the details.
