Lesson Two, Question 11
11. In what ways was Christ’s birth a simple event? Contrast that to a child being born in your local town today.
Re: Lesson Two, Question 11
Well, there wasn't a lot of attention paid to the actual birth; Mary's time came and she gave birth to her firstborn. Childbirth is depicted as natural and normal. I think in many ways, it still is, even in modern times. On the other hand, until relatively recently, giving birth was the most dangerous thing a woman could do (followed closely by cooking as long skirts, very often used as potholders and nearly always used around open fires tended to catch fire burning the skirt, wearer and all!) It's probably the most vulnerable a woman ever is. And once the child is born, she becomes simultaneously more vulnerable due to her overwhelming love for this infant and more fierce and dangerous, also due to her overwhelming love for this infant! Ahhh, motherhood!
